Week 2 – Tanning in more ways than one

First week of work – tick

First full week of sunshine – tick

First week involving drinks (mainly wine) in the sunshine – tick

First week of running round Melbourne – tick

Week of firsts and a week of discovering the tan. and the sun. But mostly the tan. The tan is a 3.5km loop around the botanical gardens in Melbourne – really close to the city, really close the our hotel we’re currently in, and most importantly 100m from our front door when we move into our apartment.

SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURES Its an amazing surface, has 250m markers the whole way round, has water stations, has toilets so you don’t have to do a Paula, and is lit from 5:30am until midnight. It couldn’t be more perfect for runners…and runners it has. Runners of all ages, shapes, sizes, speeds at all times. And we’ve run round it a fair few times this week. We love it. Oh yeah…Kat ran…she ran…not fast, not pretty, but it was running (of a sort)!

Looking good…for a milli second!

We’ve also done some really nice practical things this week like finding a bed (good old gumtree), getting Australian phone numbers, and sorting the all important guest futon…first guest is in just over a week’s time. We’ve spent the weekend discovering, having brunch in South Yarra (huge), and generally finishing off that thing called jet lag (pesky) and exploring our new home. We also have a small addiction to the juice bar Boost. It just happens to be exactly opposite the gym – handy. We even have a frequent user card. Addicted. We need our blender to arrive soon. Really soon.

Fitness First also let us have a trial week this week – right in the middle of the city – and we’ve hit the gym pretty hard….you can take the triathlete out of London…but we’re do a little blog on that separately. It’s fair to say we’ve spent a lot of our week in lycra.

Can’t wait to actually move in this Thursday to our new home, get settled, unpack, and get our shipping – it will be like Christmas all at once!
