Week 8 – We get by with a little help with our friends

This week we had some more guests – the lovely Sabrina and Alex.  They have also recently emigrated – but to Sydney, and they came down to Melbourne to spend the week for us. Jonney and Alex have a bit of a bromance going on as they are running partners from back home, so there has been plenty of running together, admiring each other’s lycra (yes really), including the high split shorts. They also can’t even spend time apart when they’re not running… the other day Alex was swimming, so Jonney took his bike down to our pool and cycled to watch over him. Its been a beautiful sight to behold.

In other non triathlon news, we also did some normal things! We’ve been out for drinks, exploring the area – although found ourselves the only people in a particular bar on a Thursday night – maybe not a bar to go back to. We have also been to the beach and explored South Yarra – including some great brunch food. The weather has not been great this week, you would (almost) think it wasn’t summer. There has been rain storms and thunder and lightning, and Sunday required jackets. Not quite how we like to gloat back home to the UK with the frost. Still fingers crossed it starts to warm up again!

Kat also did some crit style training on Thursday…again you will see from the photo below that it was post rain storm, so she came home looking like a mountain biker.

Kat was also fortunate enough to go to the MCG (Melbourne Cricket Ground) with a work function, which meant amazing access to view the pitch. It also sits right next to the stadiums where the Australian tennis open is – its like a sporting stadium heaven. Can’t wait to see some actual live sport. In January and February sporting events go wild – with the 20:20 cricket (Big Bash), the international 20:20s and also the Australian open. Needless to say….we have tickets for all of them!

Again a late blog, as having too much fun with our guests! They stay until Wednesday (looking forward to more eating) and then we have the arrival of the family on Thursday! It’s all go!
